Confirmation

This sacrament is called Confirmation because it confirms and strengthens baptismal grace. 266 Catechism of the Catholic Church.

The essential rite of Confirmation is the anointing with Sacred Chrism (oil mixed with balsam and consecrated by the bishop), which is done by the laying on of the hand of the minister who pronounces the sacramental words “be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit” as he anoints the confirmand’s forehead.

Adults who for whatever reason have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation, as well as those who seek to be Received into the Catholic Church, are requested to contact the Parish Office.

A new program of the celebration of Confirmation is being produced and will be rolled out across the Archdiocese in the coming year or so.

Confirmation will take place in year 10.
